Book Stuff: Book Tour Part Three

Posted by Mike on July 16, 2006

Sorry for the delay but I was in prison. I didn’t do it. Well, I didn’t mean to do it. At any rate, I broke out a few days ago and immediately went back to work on this blog. I hate the word blog. So does my daughter Kerry. She might have blogged about it on her blog but I wouldn’t know because I’ve been too busy flogging (rhymes with blogging) my book. The main tour is over and I’m suffering separation anxiety having been separated from my friends in The Outlaw Family Band. (see “Separation Man” performance on earlier…blog) The band came along for the midwest leg of the tour, backing me up on the readings, the Today show live shot, RV park downtime and other moments that called for lively background music. (my jail break) They are great musicians, good guys and wonderful cellmates.

There you are! I thought you’d left us all on our lonesome. I was a little worried.

What were you in prison for? Did you finally injure the poor garbage man with your BB Gun? (You already posted the crime on here in an earlier podcast, did he finally bust you?!)

Kerry has written about just about anything and everything in her blog thus far, but I haven’t come across any entry dedicated to her unease over the word “blog.” She did mention your inability to say “chicken breast,” though. I found that EXTREMELY amusing.

Thank you so much for the update. It was great. There was some serious laughing going on in the RV - makes me want to be there so badly! I’m glad to see that you are doing well and it was wonderful to see an update. Take care and TRY to stay out of trouble, Mike! (Is that even possible?!)

I don’t think my mom would be happy if she saw that the guy I just met with has served time in prison. Haha. I’m sure like you said you didn’t mean to do it. I wish I could play the banjo. I thing once I get decent at guitar I may pick it up. That RV trip sounds like it was really fun.

Do you know what’s worse than “blog”? It’s “blogospehere.”

And if I ever catch you using it, I have your parole officer’s number.

    Love,

    Your doting daughter

Do you know what’s worse than “blogosphere”?

Writing a post too quickly and misspelling blogosphere.

Boy is my face red. Mostly because this air conditioner isn’t doing jack.

    Love,

    Your doting (and overheated) daughter

I’ll have to chime in here. Forget getting bogged down with blogs. What about getting Googled? That’s the worst. In fact, Mike, I just Googled you because i couldn’t remember the web page. Hope it didn’t hurt. Well, i’m off to Google the GI Joe “Scoop,” I heard he looks just like you.

  7. Mike Says:

I am a GI Joe, for all who don’t know. Back in the late 1980’s Wayne Charness, a friend of mine at Hasbro arranged for my face to be on a GI JOe figure. His name was “Scoop” and he was a combat information specialist with a video camera and a gun. I can relate to that since I travel with a video camera and a gun. (memo to sky marshalls - I’m kidding) Go on Ebay and look for GI Joe - Scoop. You will get the whole sad story.

I just can’t say enough wonderful things about your book. I would ask you to adopt me but we are the same age! Your family is fantastic and makes me want to be Irish Catholic.

Please give my regards to your parents; they have to be the most interesting octogenarians in the world.

I hope to see more stories about the rollicking Leonards.

    Is this you?
