TV News - Unplugged.

Get it right. It’s not that difficult. If you are going to make a movie about a hockey player - find an actor who can skate. If you’re going to focus on TV news - plug the damn camera in. (This also appeared on Camp Jinx, our family website)

An old rant revisited

It’s been three and a half decades and the wound is still raw. Let’s go back to 1970. My wife and I were sitting in a Phoenix movie theater. It was packed. Ali McGraw’s character in “Love Story” was near death. People were sobbing. Not me. I was steaming. Here’s why.

St. Patrick

To honor the Irish on St. Patrick’s Day here is a story from Dublin that aired on the Today show back in 1989. Rock bands from Ireland were in vogue in the late 1980’s so I focused on a group that had potential but hadn’t yet made it. They were good musicians and good guys but the band went nowhere. Why?

I’ve been taking a lot of walks lately trying to clear my mind before the book tour starts in April. I go before sunrise because walking in the darkness allows me to focus my thoughts on questions of great significance. Sometimes I find answers and sometimes I don’t.
